PLANTING A NEW TREE

         ITEMS TO REMEMBER WHEN PLANTING A TREE

1. Utility Locator.....CALL 811 to find buried lines before you dig
2. Large Hole.........It should be twice as wide as the root ball, but only as deep as the root ball itself.
3. Use Existing Soil....Refill with the soil that you took out.  Tamp the soil to eliminate air pockets.
4. Mulching...........Putting 2-3 inches of mulch around the base will help keep the soil damp and promote growth.
5. Stake the Tree.. Tie it loosely, and check the tie frequently.  Do not tie tight as it will cut the tree.
